Medical Assisting: Clinical Application is designed to provide preparation for entry-level positions as a clinical (“back office”) medical assistant. Content includes lecture, discussion and clinical skills laboratory instruction in the skills necessary to assist the physician/practitioner in exam-room procedures, laboratory procedures, pharmacology, providing medications, minor office surgery.
Join us in this class to learn the essentials of medical billing, insurance procedures, and record keeping. Learn how to process insurance claims using ICD-9-CM diagnostic codes and CPT procedural codes. Using the universal CMS-1500 Claim Form to process insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, students will learn all requirements necessary to process an accurate insurance claim. Other topics also included in this class are diagnostic and procedural coding and essential medical terminology. With this class you can enter the clinical office team setting or seek employment with a billing agency.
