The Nurse Assistant Program provides the students to complete the nursing assistant training, in theory, skills, and clinical hours designed according to the department of public health in California and prepares the students to be qualified to take the state board exam. NA training helps students to function as nursing assistants in long or short-term skills in nursing facilities, acute hospitals, and home settings.

Dunnicliff-Medical Math 5/4/22 ending 8/24/22 (099955)
This course consists of a review of basic mathematics calculations and detailed instruction on the calculation of drug dosages. The mathematics review includes chapters on fractions, decimals, percent, ratios, and proportions. The course also provides instruction on converting between metric units of weight, volume, and length and converting between metric units and household measures. Dosage calculations are based upon patient scenarios that apply critical thinking and emphasize the critical importance of accuracy in calculations. The course is designed to prepare nursing students for their course work in the VN program. All calculations on the tests and quizzes must be completed with paper and pencil and without a calculator.

The purpose of this course is to examine pharmacotherapeutic agents used in the treatment of illness and the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of wellness in diverse individuals across the lifespan. Clinical pharmacology emphasizes the principles of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenetics in the treatment of illnesses. The focus is on concepts of safe administration and monitoring the effects of pharmacotherapeutic agents.

Sims - Home Health Aide Program - May 2022
The Home Health Aide (HHA) training program is a 40-hour model program regulated by California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Licensing and Certification Program, and Aide and Technician Certification. The intent of the curriculum is to build upon the knowledge, skills and ability that individuals possess as nurse assistants. The curriculum is for the student who has completed a 150-hour Nurse Aide Training Program and who already possesses a nurse assistant certificate. HHA curriculum hours represent 40-hours, 20-hours which are clinical. This course will teach the student how to provide health, safety, personal grooming assistance, meal preparation and light house cleaning for clients in their home or in residential settings. Students will receive a Home Health Aide Certificate of Completion and State Certification for HHA added to their CNA Certification.

Sims - VN 6 Maternity Nursing Theory - AD 45
This course prepares the vocational nursing (VN) student with basic abilities to perform in obstetrics and delivery areas of nursing practice. The content of this course will include information about antepartal, labor/delivery and postpartum processes, as well as care of the newborn after delivery. The VN student will learn anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, embryonic/fetal growth and development, and fetal/maternal assessments. In addition, the VN student will be able to apply the nursing process to the mother throughout labor and delivery, postpartum period, and to the care of the neonate.

Sims - Clinical Geriatrics - AD 45 Seg 2 R1 G2
This course develops clinical competency for the vocational nursing student and emphasizes the integration of theory and assessments for older adults. Students will learn the components of data collection, both objective and subjective, analyze laboratory results, and have a basic understanding of medications given to the older adult. In addition, students will use the nursing process and critical thinking to formulate nursing care plans for conditions common to older adults.

LVNs are used in variety pediatric settings in the community including clinics, daycares, and schools. Students will have the opportunity to increase their assessment skills of both well and ill children in the community and incorporate theories of growth and development. Students will learn a basic understanding of technical procedures including gastrostomy tube care/feeding, suctioning, and injections. In addition, students will learn about community resources and how to access them with the school settings.

Pediatric nursing is one of the specialty care areas of nursing practice which is a subject for developing a sound knowledge of the specific age group. The health needs of patients from a newborn child to an adolescent is addressed in this course. In addition, the course covers extensive knowledge about nutrition needs, issues with growth, safety, fear, and death.

Medical-Surgical Nursing enhances the students' ability to incorporate the nursing process as it relates to various disease processes and health promotion. Young - Accounting
This course introduce students how a sole propritorship keeps track of all detailed business activities. These detailed activities include:
- tracking where the money is coming from when starting up a sole proprietorship type business
- tracking customers who purchases your goods and services
- racking your vendors, who sends you bills for the rent, utilities, etc.
- creating reports to learn how the business is doing
In this class, you will learn the basic accounting theory for a single owner service business. The focus is the accounting equation and how business activities can change that equation. You will also learn to analyze and journalize business transactions, post these transactions to the ledgers, manage cash, prepare financial statements and make adjusting and closing entries.
